GC Angels reveals first start-ups joining £6.5m Innovate UK Accelerator for diverse Northern founders - Prolific North
From over 150 applications, GC Angels have selected a group of exciting founders - all of them have the potential to successfully raise their first institutional VC round in the next 6-12 months - and with our support as early-stage investors at GC Angels we will aim to turn that potential into reality.
This group represents more just than the ability to get funding...they also represent the huge amount of investable talent that exists within underrepresented groups in the North.
It's amazing to put together founders from Manchester, Stockport, Oldham, Bolton, Preston, Warrington, Liverpool, Sheffield and Bradford...but it's even more amazing when that cohort is made up of:
- 60% female founders
- 73% EM founders
- 36% founders affected by neurodivergence/disability
This group is already reshaping the investment landscape - something that wouldn't have been possible without funding from Innovate UK for the VentureForward programme or the foresight of Mountside Ventures to put together the national delivery consortium!
